HENNIKER, N.H. - New England College senior Makenzie Anderson (Antrim, N.H.) of the NEC field hockey team was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Goalkeeper of the Week for the week ending on September 28th.
Anderson earns this recognition for the first time this season after making 13 saves across two games this week. She made four saves in 30 minutes of action against non-conference opponent Plymouth State, before turning in a nine-save shutout against the University of Saint Joseph on Saturday. With the 2-0 win, the 'Grims remain undefeated in conference play at 4-0.
Anderson has continued to be a force in net for the Pilgrims this season, posting a .892 save percentage and a 0.64 goals-against average. The senior leads the GNAC in both categories, also leading the conference with just four goals allowed – six less than the next best, qualified goalkeeper.
Anderson and the Pilgrims are on a collision course with Colby-Sawyer as they face off against each other this Wednesday at 6:00 PM in New London, New Hampshire. The two teams sit atop the GNAC standings at 4-0, with the winner of the upcoming matchup sitting alone in first place.
