Men’s Basketball Closes Season on Senior Day

HENNIKER, N.H. – The New England College men's basketball team closed out their season against visiting Albertus Magnus College on Saturday at the Bridges Gymnasium in Henniker, New Hampshire in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action. 

THE BASICS 
Score: Albertus Magnus College: 95, New England College 65 
Records: Falcons: 15-10, 11-3 GNAC, Pilgrims: 4-21, 2-12 GNAC 

TURNING POINTS 

  • Albertus Magnus jumped ahead early as they used multiple baskets from junior forward Deivone Tanksley (Hartford, Conn.) to gain an early 13-6 lead. The Falcons used tough defense to charge past the Pilgrims. 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS 

  • Senior guard Alex Williams (Miramar, Fla.) andjunior guard Ta'zhon Daniels (New Haven, Conn.) led the game with 16 points apiece as Tanksley andsophomore guard Jayquan Kirkland (Stratford, Conn.) followed with 15 each. 

  • Daniels led all players with five assists.Junior guard Ray Ford, Jr., (Jersey City, N.J.) senior guard Theisen Lee (Cincinnati, Ohio), sophomore guard Mike Strazzeri (Chichester, N.H.), and graduate guard Nick Gomeau (Enfield, Conn.) all followed with 3. 

  • Junior center Avery Hinnant (Naugatuck, Conn) led all rebounders with 13 as sophomore center Aiden MacLeod (Wilmington, Mass.) led the Pilgrims with seven. 

SENIOR DAY 

  • Prior to the game, the New England College men's basketball program and the NEC athletics department recognized this year's senior class as part of senior day. The class of Williams, Lee, Gomeau, and senior guard Ashton Ventola (Danville, N.H.) were honored by coaches, teammates, family members, and fans for all of their accomplishments at NEC both on and off the court. Although their time with the program may be coming to an end, they will forever be a part of the 'Grims family.
