GARDEN CITY, N.Y. - New England College Women's Wrestling competed in the Nassau Open where the Pilgrims had five top five finishes as sophomore Jaclyn Dehney (Pelham, N.H.), freshman Lilie Normandie (Lowell, Mass.), and freshman Marisol Almanzar (Lawrence, Mass.) topped the podium as they won their weight classes.
Dehney pinned all three of her opponents as she spent a combined 1:47 on the mat between three matches. Normandie wrestled two matches as she opened her day with a 10-0 decision win and pinned her second opponent in 1:53. Almanzar won both of her matches by pin to top her weight class.
Freshman Clover Van der Velden (Stonybrook, N.Y.) picked up a 6-3 decision victory before falling in the third-place match. Sophomore Madeline Li (Andover, Mass.) picked up two victories in her effort to finish third place where she defeated Van der Velden by decision.
