HENNIKER, N.H.- Junior Conley Ladabouche (Barre, Vt.) of the New England College field hockey team was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending on November 2nd.
Ladabouche is the fourth Pilgrim this season to receive the Defensive Player of the Week accolade demonstrating the strengths of the NEC defense that has held opponents to less than a goal per game this season.
The junior recorded two defensive saves this week, one in each of the Pilgrims' games. Conley recorded her first save in the fourth quarter against No.8 nationally ranked Endicott, as the 'Grims defense held the Gulls below their season average of 5.4 goals per game.
The junior tallied her second defensive save of the week in the first quarter of NEC's quarterfinal win over Lasell on Saturday to keep the game scoreless. The Pilgrims defense only allowed three shots on goal, eventually picking up the 3-0 victory over the Lasers. The shutout was the team's 10th of the season.
NEC will now look ahead to their semifinal match on Wednesday, November 5th at 2:00 PM when they travel to Franklin, Massachusetts to face #1 Dean College.
