PRINCETON, N.J. - The New England College Women's Wrestling team competed in the Princeton Open where sophomore Jaclyn Dehney (Pelham, N.H.) won the 138-pound weight class.
Dehney pinned her way to victory after defeating Ava Curry from Princeton, Mia Collins of Columbia, Felician's Lina Rodriguez, and Tanya Teneva of Western New England in the final.
Senior Karime Camarena-Tejeda (Miami, Fla.) received a first-round bye before defeating Destiny Rivera of Felician by a 7-5 decision in the round of 16. She dropped her following two matches.
Sophomore Madeline Li (Andover, Mass.) pinned Felician's Karley Perrini before dropping her two consolation matches.
Freshman Marisol Almanzar (Lawrence, Mass.) won her first match before dropping the next two.
Sophomore Ashley Dehney (Pelham, N.H.) fell in her first match before pinning West Point Prep's Hailey Pitches and losing the following match to end her day.
Freshman Fenna Clover van der Velden (Stonybrook, N.Y.), freshman Lilie Normandie (Lowell, Mass.), and sophomore Orla King (Woburn, Mass.) went 0-2 on the day.
Women's Wrestling will travel to Springfield, Massachusetts to take on the WNE Golden Bears in a dual on Saturday, November 15 at 1:30 PM.
