Hill Named GNAC Defensive Player of the Week

HENNIKER, N.H. - New England College senior Martina Hill (Abbot, Maine) of the NEC field hockey team was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending on October 5th.

The NEC defense continues to earn recognition as they have conceded just seven goals in 12 games. That strong defensive effort continued into this week as they won their three games by a combined score of 12-0 with just five shots on goal allowed.

Hill continues to act as a leader on the back line, and the senior came through with a big first quarter defensive save in the team's pivotal 2-0 win over Colby-Sawyer in a battle of undefeated teams in conference play. After handing the Chargers their first GNAC loss of the season, the Pilgrims sit alone atop the GNAC standings now at 6-0.

Martina and company held Elms and UMaine-Farmington to just one shot on goal across Saturday and Sunday's matchups as the Pilgrims are now winners of four straight.

NEC will now look ahead to their next game against Lasell at home on Saturday, October 11th, as they look to remain undefeated in conference play.
