HENNIKER, N.H. - New England College senior guard Alex Williams (Miramar, Fla.) of the NEC men's basketball team has been named the Male Pilgrim of the Month for December of 2024 in an announcement by the Department of Athletics on Monday afternoon.
Through the first ten games of the 2024-25 season, Williams is on pace to set career-bests in minutes, points per game, rebounds per game, assists per game, and field goal percentage. The senior leads the team with 14.8 points per game on 46% shooting – a mark which is good for 16th in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC). Williams has scored double figures in seven of his nine games, reaching 20-points three times. In addition to his offensive leap this season, Williams has dominated on the glass for the 'Grims. Williams has brought down a GNAC-leading 10.0 rebounds per game, nearly a rebound-and-a-half more than any other player.
With nearly 15 points and 10 rebounds per game, Williams is averaging a double-double, something he has achieved five different times this season. Perhaps his most impressive came on December 4th where he posted 20 points and 11 rebounds against #21 ranked Middlebury College. The team also wrapped up December with a 20-point victory over Curry last Monday.
"Alex exemplifies everything a team wants from their leader," said head coach Charlie Mason. "Alex distinguishes himself with his work ethic. He is a humble and selfless teammate, and, in the process, he makes all of us better."
Williams and the men's basketball team are back in action on Tuesday night, as they are set to host the defending GNAC Champion Blue Jays of the University of Saint Joseph.
