Charlie Mason was named the Head Coach of the New England College men's basketball team prior to the 2002-03 season. Mason's 218 wins are the most in program history. Mason has helped lead the NEC Men’s Basketball team to two Conference Tournament championships and four regular season championships; culminating in two NCAA tournament appearances in 2018 and 2020. The program also earned it’s first-ever NCAA regional rankings during the 2019-20 season. As a result of the program’s success, Charlie Mason has garnered Coach of the Year honors four times since the 2014-15 season. 

Charlie Mason has served as a member of the NCAA Division III Men’s Basketball Selection Committee and he has also been a member of the National Association of Basketball Coaches Division III Congress. Mason has also been selected to coach at the NCAA Basketball Academy in the summers of 2019, 2023 and 2024.     

Prior to New England College, Charlie Mason served as the Head Men’s Basketball Coach and Assistant Athletic Director at NVU Johnson.  In 2000, Mason was recognized as the Mayflower Coach of the Year. 

Charlie Mason earned his M.S. in education at Rockford University. He earned his B.A. in History from Concordia University and a B.S. in Human Movement from NVU Johnson. He was a four-year letter winner at Concordia University and a member of its 1990 National Championship team.
