HENNIKER, N.H. – The New England College women's basketball team gained their first conference win against visiting Dean College on Wednesday at the Bridges Gymnasium in Henniker, New Hampshire in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action.
THE BASICS

TURNING POINTS
- Senior guard Amya Moss (Norfolk, Va.) got the scoring started just 57 seconds in as she drained a three off a pass from senior forward Gabriella Matlock (Tulare, Calif.). She hit another one 1:05 later as the Pilgrims jumped out to a 6-0 lead. The teams traded points as the Pilgrims took a 19-15 lead into the second quarter.
- The Pilgrims kept their foot on the gas as they continued their run to start the quarter on a 6-0 run to extend their lead to ten points. The lead was held as junior forward Abigail Lacy (Arroyo Grande, Calif.) scored four points in thirty seconds to keep it a seven-point game after Alexandria Paquet hit a three for Dean to cut into the lead. The Pilgrims held a lead as big as fifteen points as a three-pointer from Kendrah Doane sent the game into the half 40-28.
- Matlock and Moss got it going at the start of the third quarter as Matlock scored six points in the first three minutes with an assist on a layup from Moss. After a layup from Moss put the Grims up by 20, junior guard Macy Gordon (Boscawen, N.H.) drew a foul on Doane during a layup and hit the free throw to complete the and-one. The Pilgrims outscored the Bulldogs 15-12 in the remainder of the third to take a 68-42 lead into the final ten minutes.
- Matlock scored six points in the fourth quarter as the Bulldogs fought back to score 26 in the final frame to NEC's 13. The Pilgrims were able to keep the lead over double digits as they held on to seal the 23-point victory.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Matlock posted a career-high 22 points as Viau led the Bulldogs with 17. Azaria Landry and Boutin combined for 21 points and Moss, Lacy, and sophomore forward Camryn Lewis (Taunton, Mass.) all posted at least ten.
- The Pilgrims doubled the Bulldogs rebound total and then some as they held a 53-25 advantage in that category. Doane led Dean with six as Lacy led the game with seven.
- The assist advantage also went to NEC as they gathered 27 to Dean's 16. Moss and Dean's Abi Boutin both led the game with five each.
- Despite making five more threes than the Pilgrims, the Bulldogs weren't able to get it done as Moss, Doane, Paquet, and Dean's Tori Viau drained two each.
