HENNIKER, N.H. – New England College freshman Ryan Waring (Gilmanton, N.H.) of the NEC men's golf team was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Rookie of the Week for the week ending September 22nd, 2024.
Competing in the VTSU Castleton Invitational in Rutland, Vermont, Waring turned in a season-best 73 (+3) on day one and a 76 (+6) on day two to finish in fourth place overall at +9, which also matches his career-best. Waring played a pivotal role in the team's first place finish – the 'Grims third win of the season - as they bested six other schools with a 10 stroke advantage.
"Ryan has been a great addition to our team and is really starting to find his consistency," said head coach Travis Banga. "He is a well-deserved rookie of the week selection!"
Waring is the second Pilgrim to earn this honor this season, after Bryce Sturm (Lake in the Hills, Ill.) was recognized just two weeks ago.
NEC will compete next on Wednesday, September 25th, when they travel to Westfield, Massachusetts to compete in the Brett Williamson Invitational, hosted by Westfield State University.
