HENNIKER, N.H. – The New England College women's soccer team dropped a tough match against visiting Anna Maria in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action on Wednesday at Don Melander Field in Henniker, New Hampshire.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Pilgrims and AMCATS traded shots to open the game as freshman midfielder Madison Bowman (Coventry, Vt.) and Olivia Vale da Serra traded attempts to get their teams on the board, in what was just the beginning of back-and-forth action.
- A barrage of Anna Maria shots midway through the first half were all stopped by Pilgrims junior goalkeeper Hollie Bomba (Seymour, Conn.) as she faced pressure all game.
- It took 57 minutes for the first goal of the game as Abigail Smith buried one past Bomba as the AMCATS defense held on for the win.
- A desperate Pilgrims attack in the final minute was denied by a steady AMCATS defense and goalie Kortney Clark, who made a crucial save with just 43 seconds left.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- The Pilgrims were able to get two shots on goal, one from junior defender Brynn Murphy (Unity, N.H.), with the other coming from junior midfielder Mia Loewenberg (Milford, Conn.).
- Bomba made six saves on seven shot attempts from the AMCATS. Clark made two saves for the visitors.
- There was a total of four corner kicks in the match, with Anna Maria getting three of them.
