Anderson Tabbed GNAC Goalkeeper of the Week

HENNIKER, N.H. - New England College junior goalkeeper Makenzie Anderson (Antrim, N.H.) of the NEC field hockey team was announced as the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Goalkeeper of the Week for the week ending on Sunday, September 15th.

Anderson had a strong week in net for the 'Grims, making 20 saves while allowing just three goals across three games. The Pilgrims went 2-1 on the week with wins over Fitchburg State and Dean College. Anderson made six saves against Fitchburg State on Tuesday and combined for a shutout of Dean on Saturday. In the team's lone loss on the week, Anderson made a season-high 14 saves against a strong offensive Keene State Owls team that remains unbeaten.

The junior goalkeeper recorded a .870 save percentage on the week and sports a .865 save percentage on the season – a mark that currently leads the GNAC. "Mak has been nothing but solid in the net during the start of this season," said head coach Carly Sweeney. "She played out of her mind last week against Keene and made some truly amazing stops! She just continues to get better and better."

Anderson will look to keep the strong play in net going as conference play continues with an away game against Anna Maria on Wednesday, September 18th at 6:00 PM.
