HENNIKER, N.H. – The New England College women's volleyball team lost in straight sets to visiting Plymouth State University on Thursday evening at Bridges Gymnasium in Henniker, New Hampshire in a matchup of Granite State rivals.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- After the Pilgrims jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first set behind three consecutive service aces by NEC sophomore setter Alexandra Seijas (Fort Myers, Fla.), the hosts would take an 8-6 lead. But the Panthers would take control, tallying five of the next six points to storm into the lead. Plymouth State eventually closed out the set winning seven of the final nine rallies, with two of those coming off of kills from graduate right-side hitter Ryley McNeeley (Easton, Mass.). NEC was battled in the next two sets but were unable to gain momentum.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- NEC graduate middle-blocker Tatiana Sampson (Kailua, Hawaii) led the 'Grims with five kills, two aces and a solo block, tacking on five digs.
- Plymouth State graduate middle hitter Nora Ryan (Groton, Conn.) led the Panthers with eight kills in just two sets, finishing with a .462 hitting percentage.
- NEC junior setter Aurora Gutierrez-Macias (El Paso, Tex.) finished with four aces, six set assists and eight digs.
- Plymouth State junior middle hitter Abigail Bassingthwaite (Plymouth, N.H.) posted six kills, two aces and three total blocks.
- NEC sophomore outside hitter Samantha Winters (Dover, N.H.) had four kills while junior defensive specialist Kristina Cardello (Peabody, Mass.) led the Pilgrims' D with nine digs.
