Box Score PAXTON, Mass. – The New England College women's lacrosse team were on the road against the AMCATS of Anna Maria College at Caparso Field in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action securing the win on Saturday in Paxton, Massachusetts.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The 'Grims looked to bounced back after a rough outing last game and they did just that getting themselves onto the scoreboard at 13:21 with the goal being credited to senior attacker Nathalie Antigua (North Brunswick, N.J.) to get things started for NEC as things were all tied up between the two teams, 1-1.
- Seconds after the NEC goal the AMCATS fired back immediately with one of their own that made its way into the stick of junior Makayla Gleba (Rockland, M.E.) assisted by junior Riley Michaud (Clinton, Mass.) to get back out in front.
- This didn't last long for the hosts as NEC took control for the remainder of the quarter as freshman midfielder Alexis Hornsby (Atkinson, N.H.) scored on a free position shot and later on at 8:33 graduate midfielder Cassie Kelly (Alexandria, Minn.) would not be denied managing to still get her shot off as she fell to the ground being able to find the back of the net for the lead concluding the quarter, 3-2.
- NEC struck first in the second quarter as the freshman Hornsby scores yet again dodging from the right side of the field into scoring territory for the 'Grims goal at 8:02.
- Things didn't seem to phase AMC in the early going as they fought back scoring two goals to get back into this game with 6:10 still left on the clock as the game was then tied up, 4-4.
- From there on NEC got back into a groove offensively tacking on three consecutive goals to secure a lead going into halftime, 7-4. NEC Hornsby in the matter of a quarter earned a hat trick that helped her team obtain a lead in the conference game.
- Once the third quarter commenced the 'Grims fired on all cylinders scoring four straight before the AMCATS managed to stop the bleeding scoring a goal of their own at 3:11 with NEC stretching their lead out by seven as both Kelly and sophomore attacker Mackenzie McDonald (Boscawen, N.H.) had two goals each respectively followed up by sophomore attacker Meadow Gilchrist (Stamford, Conn.) scoring the final goal of the quarter at 2:37, 12-5.
- The rest of the way was all NEC shutting down the AMCATS from any offense being produced into goals in the fourth quarter as the 'Grims added five more goals to the scoreboard to make their win a convincing one on the afternoon resulting in spoiling AMC's senior day with the 17-5 victory.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- NEC senior goalkeeper Carleigh Knotts (Dover, Del.) finished her outing with five saves in between the pipes.
- AMC graduate goalkeeper Gabi Gibson (Anchorage, A.K.) had eight saves on the afternoon. Freshman Kelsey Kowal (East Hartford, C.T.) and senior Sarah Burt (Plymouth, Mass.) both stepped in cage making an appearance for the AMCATS.
- NEC was phenomenal on offense as Hornsby, Kelly, Antigua and Gilchrist recorded four or more points on the day for the 'Grims in the dominate win put together.
- NEC Hornsby and Kelly were the game leaders in points as they scored an impressive five goals each between the two of them.
- AMC Michaud did all she could do for the AMCATS, concluding the day with two goals and an assist for three points in her outing.
- NEC had a significant difference in shots taken compared to AMC as the 'Grims ended with 38 while the AMCATS had 13.
- Clears were a huge success on the part of NEC going 23-for-25 and AMC went 12-for-25.
