Box Score HENNIKER, N.H. – The New England College women's lacrosse team won 14-5 against visiting Thomas College in non-conference action on Thursday evening at Don Melander Field in Henniker, New Hampshire.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Pilgrims burst out of the gate, scoring six goals in the opening quarter. NEC graduate midfielder Cassie Kelly (Alexandria, Minn.) and sophomore attacker Mackenzie McDonald (Boscawen, N.H.) each scored a pair of goals as NEC went into halftime leading 7-3.
- The Terriers pulled to within three off a free-position goal from Thomas junior attacker Alia Chasse (Sanford, Maine) just 1:45 into the third quarter. But the 'Grims would recover, increasing their lead to 10-5 with 10.5 seconds left in the third quarter off a third goal from McDonald, giving the second-year attacker a hat-trick.
- In the fourth quarter, NEC would keep it rolling in the fourth with goals from senior attacker Nathalie Antigua (North Brunswick, N.J.) and Hornsby. Thomas would not threaten again.
- NEC sophomore attacker Kaylee Montgomery (Weare, N.H.) put the exclamation point on the victory, scoring her first career goal off a free-position shot with 4:16 remaining.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- NEC senior goalkeeper Carleigh Knotts (Dover, Del.) tallied nine saves on the evening for the Pilgrims.
- Thomas first-year goalkeeper Bristol Sine (Fairfax, Virginia) finished with eight stops for the Terriers over three quarters.
- Hornsby picked up her first career hat trick with three goals to go along with two ground balls. McDonald netted three goals with three caused turnovers.
- Thomas picked up two goals each from Chasse and sophomore midfielder Sage Brown (Albion, Maine), while junior midfielder Mary LaRochelle (Woolwich, Maine) posted a team-high four ground balls.
- Kelly, who entered the day with a team-high 29 goals on the season, scored two against the Terriers to maintain her lead. Antigua ranks one score behind Kelly with 30 after scoring two goals with three assists on Thursday.
- NEC senior attacker Jacqueline Nee (Manchester, N.H.) posted a strong defensive effort for the 'Grims, tallying three caused turnovers to go along with her goal.
UP NEXT
- NEC is back on the field on Saturday when they host Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) rival Saint Joseph's College of Maine in a 1:00 p.m. matchup. The 'Grims are scheduled to recognize their senior class as part of Senior Day prior to the game.
