HENNIKER, N.H. - New England College graduate midfielder Drea Chin (Laconia, N.H.) of the NEC field hockey team has been named the Female Pilgrim of the Month for October of 2024 in an announcement by the Department of Athletics on Tuesday afternoon.
Chin had a huge October for the 'Grims, leading the team with seven goals and 19 total points across nine games. She also added five assists over that span, tied for the most on the team. The team went 7-2 in October, winning seven straight games to end the regular season and clinching the second seed in the GNAC tournament.
Drea earned GNAC Player of the Week honors for the week ending on October 27th where she scored six goals and made one assist across two games. Her four-goal, one-assist performance against Elms on October 26th tied single-game career bests in both goals and points. With the huge week, Chin moved to second all-time in points in program history.
"Drea is leading through execution this season," said head coach Carly Sweeney. "She is demanding the next level from her teammates and herself and has embraced this wholeheartedly. This has made a considerable impact on the team's success this season."
Chin's strong play carried into the month of November as she scored the double-overtime game winner against Lasell in the GNAC Quarterfinals on November 2nd. The team continues its' playoff run on Wednesday, November 6th, as they host #3 seed Simmons University at 7:00 PM in the GNAC Quarterfinals.
