Anderson Nets Second Goalkeeper of the Week Honor

HENNIKER, N.H. - New England College junior goalkeeper Makenzie Anderson (Antrim, N.H.) of the NEC field hockey team was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Goalkeeper of the Week for the week ending on November 3rd, earning the recognition for the second time this season.

Anderson and the 'Grims came away with two narrow victories this week, both wins coming against the Lasers of Lasell University. On Wednesday, Anderson made six saves en route to her fourth shutout – and team's eighth – of the season. Two critical saves in the fourth quarter by Anderson helped to preserve the 1-0 win and clinched the #2 seed in the GNAC tournament. In the GNAC Quarterfinals on Saturday, the 'Grims managed to defeat those very same Lasers, 2-1, in double overtime.

"Makenzie has remained our rock all season," We have so much confidence in her decision making and that she will be there when the pressure continues to build during game play.  This is a well-deserved honor!"

Anderson will be back in net on Wednesday as the Pilgrims face off against Simmons University in the GNAC Semifinals with a chance to clinch a spot in the GNAC Championship next Saturday, November 9th.
