HENNIKER, N.H. - New England College graduate midfielder Drea Chin (Laconia, N.H.) of the NEC field hockey team was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Player of the Week for the week ending on October 27th.  

Chin dominated this week for the 'Grims, exploding for six goals and one assist – good for 13 total points – across the team's two games. The graduate midfielder scored twice in a 6-2 road win over Regis College on Tuesday, before having her best game of the season on Saturday at Elms College. Chin tied her career-high with four goals and added one assist in an 8-0 rout of the Blazers.  

"This is a well-deserved honor for a player that has been asked to take on a myriad of different roles this season," said head coach Carly Sweeney. "No matter where Drea is on the field, she manages to make it her canvas. She inspires creativity through her play and creates amazing opportunities for her teammates around her." 

Chin has played a key role in the Pilgrim's currently active six game winning streak. Entering the final week of the regular season, Chin is tied for first in the GNAC with 10 assists and ranks eighth with 30 total points. Her 10 assists tie her career high that she set in 2023, and with her monster nine-point performance on Saturday – Chin now sits second all-time in points in program history. 

Chin is the third member of the team to earn GNAC Player of the Week honors this season, joining senior forward Meaghan McCamish (Warick, R.I.) and junior forward Cristina Manzi (Peapack, N.J.) who was recognized just last week. The 'Grims will take their six-game winning streak into their regular season finale on Wednesday as they welcome in Lasell University for a 7:00 PM matchup.
