Women’s Soccer Drops Conference Outing at Lasell

NEWTON, MASS. - The New England College women's soccer team were unable to find their footing in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action on Wednesday as they endured an 8-0 loss against Lasell University from Taylor Field in Newton, Massachusetts.

THE BASICS
Score:    New England College 0, Lasell University 8
Records: Pilgrims 0-9-1, 0-6-1 | Lasers 4-3-2, 3-2-2 GNAC

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • NEC fought hard in the early stages of the first half but eventually at 21:58 the Laser managed to strike first as junior midfielder Camdyn LaMarre (Belgrade, Maine) got her team on the board from senior midfielder Michelina D'Agostino (Longmeadow, Mass.)
  • LaMarre couldn't simmer down continuing to excel in her offensive play on the day scoring yet another goal in the span of just 19 seconds stretching their lead out, 2-0. LU junior midfielder Alex Delaney (Hebron, Conn.) got involved in the scoring as well at 27:48 thanks to LaMarre who positioned her into the scoring opportunity bestowed to Delaney giving Lasell a comfortable lead over the Pilgrims, 3-0.
  • Nothing was able to change for NEC having no answer for the onslaught being put together by the Lasers offense as scoring occurred early and often. Things didn't take long for LU to pick back up where they left off as they tallied another goal onto the scoreboard just a little over six minutes into the second half at 51:25. From there on the Lasers did not take their foot off the gas firing off another four goals giving NEC no breathing room whatsoever by the conclusion of the GNAC contest earning a 8-0 victory on the day.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • NEC junior goalkeeper Hollie Bomba (Seymour, Conn.) did everything she could at the pitch to try to keep the 'Grims in the game obtaining 17 saves accounting for eight in the first half and nine in the second half.
  • LU goalkeepers in junior Elizabeth DaSilva (Somerville, Mass.) and freshman Regan Sullivan (Yarmouth, Maine) split time in goal gathering a save each respectively.
  • NEC senior forward Shelby McBain (Indianhead, Md.) took the most shots for 'Grims with two and a SOG.
  • Lasell was a threat from the start to the finish of the GNAC outing as six different Lasers scored on the day.
  • The shot differential was significant as Lasell had full command of this aspect of the game recording 36 to the Pilgrims six.
  • LU LaMarre was the star on the field during the game collecting two goals and three assists.
  • There was quite a gap in corner kicks bestowed between the two teams as Lasell had eight compared to NEC's one.

UP NEXT
  • NEC is back on the field on Saturday at 1:00 PM when they host Elms College for senior day from Don Melander Field.
  • LU plays their next game at Colby-Sawyer College on Saturday at 1:30 PM from Kelsey Soccer Field.
