HENNIKER, N.H. - New England College sophomore midfielder Santiago Sanchez (Guatemala City, Guatemala) of the NEC men's soccer team has been named the Male Pilgrim of the Month for September of 2024 in an announcement by the Department of Athletics on Wednesday morning.
Sanchez had a dominant month for the 'Grims, scoring five goals and adding an assist in eight games. Sanchez continues to be the driving force for the NEC offense, leading the team in goals, points, shots, and shots on goal. The team went 3-0-2 in games where Sanchez scored a goal – scoring against non-conference opponents Fitchburg State and Lesley, and GNAC foes Mitchell, Elms, and Lasell.
Sanchez ranks tied for second in goals among all players in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) and tied for fifth in total points. Sanchez earned GNAC Player of the Week honors for the week ending on September 15th.
Sanchez will look to keep his strong season going as the 'Grims welcome Johnson & Wales University to the Don for a 4:00 PM matchup this evening.
