HENNIKER, N.H. - Freshman Ryan Waring (Gilmanton, N.H.) was named both the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Player and Rookie of the Year for the 2024 season after medaling on Tuesday at the GNAC Championships.

Waring, a first-year golfer at New England College started the season finishing in the top ten at the NEC Invitational with a +10. He then shot a +12 at Norwich and was tied for ninth place with a 79 at the Emmanuel Invitational.

At the Vermont State University – Castleton Invitational, Waring shot three over par on day one and finished six strokes over par on day two to finish at fourth overall, earning him to be named GNAC Rookie of the Week for the week of September 22^nd.

After tying for eighth place at the Brett Williamson Invitational at +7 and shooting +2 at Keene State, Waring earned his second consecutive Rookie of the Week award.

On Day One of the GNAC Championships, Waring shot a +7 to be tied for second place overall going into day two. He improved his score by five strokes to finish +9 after Day Two on his way to finishing first overall for the medal, winning GNAC Player of the Year in the process. Being the rookie who finished highest in the conference tournament, he earned GNAC Rookie of the Year, as well.

"Ryan was a great addition for us this fall and he showed his steadiness and course knowledge of Concord Country Club," said head coach Travis Banga. "Watching him and Carlson neck and neck down the stretch was awesome! It's a huge honor for Ryan to win Player and Rookie of Year, but more importantly the impact he had to help us reach our goal of GNAC Champions!"
