Men’s Hoops Falls Short to Blazers

HENNIKER, N.H. – The New England College men's basketball team lost 81-66 against visiting Elms College on Saturday afternoon at the Bridges Gymnasium in Henniker, New Hampshire in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action.

TURNING POINTS
  • Down by as much as 14 in the first half, the Pilgrims would chip away at the Blazers' lead, pulling to within three with 17:22 to go in the second when NEC sophomore guard Michael Hills (Baton Rouge, Lous.) stole the ball and finished to make the score 35-32. But a 12-2 run by Elms put NEC down by double-digits again, as the 'Grims couldn't quite close the gap.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • Hills led the Pilgrims with 14 points, with two rebounds and two steals.
  • Elms first-year guard Jake Midura (Chicopee, Mass.) came off the bench to score 24 points, shooting 8-of-13 from behind the arc.
  • NEC sophomore guard Junior Efosa (Haverhill, Mass.) finished with six points and a team-high five rebounds while senior guard Kyle Inglis (Burlington, Mass.) contributed ten points.
  • Elms junior guard Teron Griffin (Harlem, N.Y.) finished with 13 points and five boards for the Blazers.
  • Three-point shooting was decisive, as the Blazers went a combined 15-of-25 compared to 4-of-18 for the Pilgrims.
