HENNIKER, N.H. – The New England College women's soccer team lost 4-1 to visiting Colby-Sawyer College in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action on Wednesday evening at Don Melander Field in Henniker, New Hampshire.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- After a hotly contested opening few minutes, Colby-Sawyer would eventually break through, however, netting two quick goals from junior forward Bridget O'Connell (Peabody, Mass.) (assisted by junior midfielder Halle Pletzer (Barre, Vt.) and by senior midfielder Kara Keiper (Peterborough, N.H.) (with an assist to O'Connell) in rapid succession to take a 2-0 lead into halftime.
- In the second half, the Chargers tacked on two more goals before the Pilgrims finally answered with 9:19 left in the game, as NEC junior midfielder Darian Taylor (Hudson, N.H.), awarded a free kick on the left side, launched a perfect arching shot that found the upper-right corner of the goal to get her team on the board, now down 4-1. It was the second goal of the season and the third of her career for the defensive midfielder.
PLAY OF THE MATCH
- The opening minutes of the game were hotly contested, with the Chargers pressing the Pilgrim defense hard. NEC sophomore defender Chloe Beausoleil (Groton, Mass.), one of the bright spots early on for this year's team, made an outstanding play just five minutes into the game when Colby-Sawyer's Keiper caught the 'Grims out of position as she dash down the right side of the field, taking a long strike on an open net. Beausoleil converged and made the defensive save, keeping the game scoreless.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- NEC sophomore goalkeeper Stephanie Bronowicki (Corona, Calif.) tallied 13 saves in net, continuing her solid play this season, as she entered the day ranking second in the conference in save percentage and saves per game.
- Colby-Sawyer first-year goalkeeper Lyndsey Valletta (Macedon, N.Y.) finished with seven stops for the Chargers.
- O'Connell was the player of the match for Colby-Sawyer, as she finished with two goals and an assist.
- NEC graduate defender Reese Hultgren (Charlton, Mass.) had a team-high three shots on the night.
