HENNIKER, N.H. – The New England College women's basketball team gets blown away early against visiting Mitchell College on Saturday afternoon at the Bridges Gymnasium in Henniker, New Hampshire in New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) action.  

THE BASICS 
Score: Mitchell College 84, New England College 56 
Records: Pilgrims 8-11, 1-3 NECC | Mariners 12-9, 4-0 NECC 

 
TURNING POINTS 

• The game started physically as both teams totaled 14 fouls in the first quarter. Mitchell senior Sam McKenna (Millbrook, NY) gave the Mariners nine points in their 20-16 lead. 

• The Mariners were able to pull away in the second quarter, as Mitchell used a 17-13 spurt to lead 37-29 in the half. Freshman guard Amaya Moss (Viginia Beach, Virg.) had brought the intensity recording four steals in the quarter. 

• NEC broke down in the third quarter as they turned the ball over seven times and scored only 10 points. Mitchell senior Amina Wiley gave Mitchell 10 points in that quarter alone and brought them to a 64-39 lead. 

• The Mariners never looked back from then on, as they outscored the 'Grims 20-17 to bring the final score to 84-56. 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS 

• Junior center Kathleen Rodriguez (McFarlane, Cali.) led all scorers for the 'Grims with 12 points as well as pulling down nine rebounds. 

• Mariner's Wiley finished with a big 29-point performance while bringing down five boards and dishing out seven assists. 

• Despite the loss, the 'Grims outrebounded the Mariners 36-32. 

• With a 20-28 edge on turnovers, Mitchell converted 31 points off them. 

• NEC's bench gave them a boost and resulted in a 36-14 edge in bench points. 

UP NEXT 

• Up next for NEC, the team will be back in Bridges Gym Tuesday night as they take on the Terriers of Thomas College (ME) with tip-off at 5:00 PM. 

• Mitchell College will be on the road to take on the Falcons of Fisher College as the game will take place at Hellenic College in Brookline Mass. Tip-off will be at 6:00 PM.
