Women’s Basketball Ends Season in NECC Semis

QUINCY, Mass. – The New England College women's basketball team saw their 2022-2023 season come to an end with an 87-78 loss at Eastern Nazarene College in the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) semifinals on Thursday evening at Lahue Athletic Center in Quincy, Massachusetts.

TURNING POINTS
  • Down 44-38 at halftime, the 'Grims came storming out of the gates with a 10-2 run, taking their first lead since the early seconds of the game, a run capped off with a layup from NEC senior guard Asia Jones (Boynton Beach, Fla.). But the Lions would soon recover, finishing the third strong and going into the final quarter with an eight-point lead. Try as they might, NEC could never pull closer than six down the stretch.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • NEC junior-transfer center Kathleen Rodriguez (McFarlane, Cali.) completed her first season with the 'Grims with a dominant performance, scoring 22 points with 15 rebounds and two steals while shooting an outstanding 78.6 percent from the floor.
  • ENC senior guard Alondra Jimenez (Santa Barbara, Calif.), the 2022-2023 NECC Player of the Year, led the Lions with 21 points and nine assists.  
  • NEC senior forward Ericka Pratt (Miami, Fla.), a 2022-2023 NECC All-Conference selection playing in the final collegiate game of her illustrious career, finished with 19 points and 11 boards for the Pilgrims while dishing out five assists.
  • ENC junior guard Ashley Quigley (Fields Landing, Calif.) finished with 21 points and six rebounds.
  • Jones, like Pratt, playing in her final game as a 'Grim, dished out a team-high nine assists to go along with seven points.
