HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Things got off to a quick start in the early going of the game as junior forward Shelby McBain (Indianhead, Md.) finds the back of the net in the first 44 seconds of play assisted by graduate defender Reese Hultgren (Charlton, Mass.). Mitchell came back and retaliated with a goal of their own at 25:28 that was credited to sophomore forward Cassandra Roman (New London, Conn.) from freshman forward Haley Jeske (Maricopa, AZ) evening the score. NEC found a way to shortly after score thanks to help of senior forward Julia Lanoie (Manchester, N.H.) scoring with the pass from sophomore midfielder Brianna Delandes (Westfield, Vt.) that gave the team the lead going into halftime.
  • The Pilgrims picked right back up from where they left off in the second half earning themselves another goal gaining a more comfortable lead with the shot by McBain that was passed by sophomore defender Chloe Beausoleil (Groton, Mass.). MC didn't hang their heads regardless of the situation making a way for themselves to score at the 27:57 mark that freshman forward Morgan Fontaine (Cheshire, Conn.) made happen off the assist from Jeske that made the game interesting, but in the end the defense of NEC stood stout not allowing anymore goals bestowing the team another win making it three in a row.
