HENNIKER, N.H. - The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) announced the winners for Athletes of the Week, for the week ending on Sunday, October 15th. New England College sophomore goalkeeper Makenzie Anderson (Antrim, N.H.) was named Goalie of the Week for her role in the team's two shutout wins over conference opponents.
On Tuesday, October 10th, the 'Grims upset the previously undefeated Johnson & Wales Wildcats, a team that had not lost a GNAC game in over two years, largely due to Anderson's dominant performance in net. She made 12 saves to send the game into overtime where NEC would score the game-winner just one minute into the additional period of play. On Saturday, October 14th, Anderson recorded another shutout against Saint Joseph's College of Maine in the team's 3-0 victory.
Anderson now has five shutouts for the 'Grims and ranks fourth in the conference with a .787 save percentage on the season and will look to keep things rolling as the team hosts Fitchburg State College tonight at 7:00 in nonconference action.
