HENNIKER, N.H. – The New England College women's volleyball team won their home opener in five sets against visiting Gordon College on Wednesday evening at the Bridges Gymnasium in Henniker, New Hampshire in non-conference action.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- After dropping the first set, the 'Grims stormed back in the second, taking six of the final eight rallies. Freshman setter Aurora Gutierrez-Macias (El Paso, Tex.) held serve on the final three points.
- Down two sets to one in the fourth, NEC exploded with a 12-3 run to take a commanding lead, then held off a late rally by Gordon. In the fifth set, the 'Grims jumped out to an early lead and never looked back.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- NEC junior middle blocker Tatiana Sampson (Kailua, Hawaii) was explosive off the bench, leading the Pilgrims with nine kills and two solo blocks.
- NEC senior libero Jaycie Kodama (Pauoa Valley, Hawaii) led a superb defensive effort for the home team with 23 digs to go along with three service aces.
- NEC junior setter Arianna Blaize-Llamas (Honolulu, Hawaii) posted 23 set assists and three service aces.
- Gordon senior middle-hitter Valerie Nilan (Valley Cottage, N.Y.) led the Scots with 18 kills.
