Bristol, R.I. – The New England College women's volleyball team lost in three sets at Roger Williams University on Tuesday evening at the Campus Rec Center Gymnasium in Bristol, Rhode Island in non-conference action.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The 'Grims were highly competitive in the first set, taking a 20-15 lead off a kill from junior middle blocker Tatiana Sampson (Kailua, Hawaii). But the Hawks rallied with a 10-2 run to claim the first stanza.
- After Roger Williams won the second set, NEC attempted to rally in the third, at one point going ahead 14-12. After the Hawks surged ahead, it would come down to the wire, with the hosts taking it 25-23.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Sampson led the 'Grims with eight kills on the night.
- Roger Williams freshman outside hitter Brianna Picchietti (Batavia, Ill.) led the Hawks with ten kills, three aces and eight digs.
- NEC junior outside hitter Amber Thi (Kalihi, Hawaii) continued her strong play for the Pilgrims with seven kills and a team-high 11 digs.
- NEC senior middle blocker Samantha Vargas (Riverside, Calif.) added seven digs and three aces.
