Six-Peat for Men's Lacrosse, Following 28-4 Win Over Mitchell in NECC Championship Game

HENNIKER, N.H. – Powered by an eight-goal second and third quarter, the New England College Men's Lacrosse Team sails past Mitchell College 28-4 in the 2022 New England Collegiate Conference Championship Saturday afternoon on Don Melander Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED

New England College started fast, as TJ Nong opened the scoring at the 12:10 mark of the first quarter. Back-to-back goals from Joey Olsen and Sam Crary expanded the NEC advantage to 3-0. In the final two minutes, Mitchell got on the board with two-straight tallies to cut the deficit to 3-2. Thomas Norton added a goal in the final 30 seconds of the quarter, giving the 'Grims a 4-2 lead after 15 minutes.

The Pilgrims exploded for eight goals in the second and third quarters to give them a 21-2 edge. Lucas Ferreira added three goals in the second quarter, while Thomas Norton struck for three more. Crary and Josh Owen scored the two other goals.

Ferreira opened the third quarter with three straights and four of the first five goals in the frame. Devon Saeger broke up Ferreira's run of four straight, with his tally with 3:24 left in the quarter. Andrew Noorigian recorded his first collegiate goal with 45-seconds remaining in the third quarter, as he scored off the Josh Owen assist.

New England College continued to pile on in the fourth quarter, as they outscored the Mariners 7-2 to push the final score to 28-4.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

  • Connor Almstrom recorded nine saves in the crease for NEC.
