The New England College Baseball team wraps up their regular season today as they travel up to Waterville, Maine, to take on Colby College at 4:00 pm.
New England College (22-13, 9-3 NECC) are winners of seven of their last eight games, including five straight. The trio of Connor Morin, JD Normand, and Michael Ciccotelli lead the way for the Pilgrims at the plate. Morin leads the team with five home runs and 31 RBI, while Normand had a team-leading .378 batting average, with two home runs and 27 RBI. Ciccotelli paces the team with 35 hits and 11 doubles. Freshman Brady Philibotte has been a catalyst for the NEC lineup, as he leads the team in runs (34) and walks (19). The New England College pitching staff has been solid all year, as they maintain a 3.84 ERA, with 299 strikeouts in 257.2 innings. They rank in the top 15 in the nation in strikeouts per nine innings (10.4 – 11th) and hits allowed per nine innings (7.86 – 12th).
Colby College (20-11, 8-4 NESCAC) is currently on a three-game winning streak, as they swept Trinity this past weekend. Brady O'Brien leads the way for the Mules' lineup, as he maintains a .368 batting average with four home runs and 35 RBI. This year, Cole Palmeri is hitting .311 with seven home runs and 35 RBI. Nicholas Thompson and Jack Pletter pace the Colby pitching staff, as they have both pitched 20.0+ innings with a sub-3.00 ERA. As a staff, the Mules have combined to throw 257.0 innings with 271 strikeouts and 149 walks while supporting a 6.06 ERA.
This is the first meeting between the two teams.
