The New England College Baseball team wraps up their regular-season home schedule today as they take on the University of Maine Presque Isle in non-conference action, beginning at noon.
New England College (20-13, 9-3 NECC) is coming off a road sweep of Lesley University, where they locked up the top seed in the NECC Baseball tournament. The trio of Connor Morin, JD Normand, and Michael Ciccotelli lead the way for the Pilgrims at the plate. Morin leads the team with four home runs and 29 RBI, while Normand had a team-leading .380 batting average, with two home runs and 25 RBI. Ciccotelli paces the team with 34 hits and ten doubles. Freshman Brady Philibotte has been a catalyst for the NEC lineup, as he leads the team in runs (34) and walks (18). The New England College pitching staff has been solid all year, as they maintain a 4.03 ERA, with 288 strikeouts in 243.2 innings. They pushed their streak of five or more strikeouts as a pitching staff to 22-straight games.
UMaine Presque Isle (6-27, 3-9 NAC) is looking to snap an eight-game losing streak, as they have not won since April 21st. Timothy Burns leads the Owls' offense with a .405 batting average, one home run, and 20 RBI, while Joey Lippo has added a .324 average and 19 RBI. The UMPI pitching staff supports a 10.63 ERA with 133 strikeouts and 137 walks in 216.0 innings.
