Box Score 2 TAUNTON, Mass. – The New England College Baseball Team split their doubleheader against Eastern Nazarene College Saturday afternoon. After winning game one 24-5, the Pilgrims fall 1-0 in the nightcap at Taunton High School.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Game One – New England College 24, Eastern Nazarene 5
New England College came out swinging, as Devin Parsons had a bases-clearing double to center field to put NEC up 5-0 before scoring a sixth run later in the frame. After Eastern Nazarene plated one run in the bottom of the first, the Pilgrims responded with two more in the top of the second.
The 'Grims broke the game open in the top of the fifth, scoring 13 runs in the inning. JD Normand and Harutaro Takahashi had extra-base hits in the fifth, as Normand launched a three-run home run while Takashi had a two-RBI double. ENC scored two runs in the bottom of the fifth and the sixth, making it 21-5. New England College capped off the top of the seventh scoring, as both Bryce Worth and Cooper Ribaudo had RBI singles.
Shaun Cormier picked up his third win after 6.0 innings with five strikeouts. Matt White pitched a perfect bottom of the seventh.
Game Two – Eastern Nazarene 1, New England College 0
Game two was controlled by the pitching staff, as neither team could garner any offensive momentum. New England College was able to get two runners in scoring position in the top of the first inning and just one out but was unable to score. In the top of the fourth inning, NEC threatened, but Tyler Gendron was thrown out trying to score on a base knock to left field by Brady Philibotte.
Eastern Nazarene got on the board in the bottom of the fourth, as Shane McNamara led off the inning with a solo home run.
Shane Audet took the loss, despite pitching 5.0 innings and allowing just one run on one hit and striking out 11.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Following game one's win, New England College outscored their opposition 60-16.
- With his first strikeout in the first inning, Shayne Audet recorded his 200th career strikeout. Becoming the 17th active Division III player with 200 strikeouts.
- The Lions lead the all-time series, 20-10
