The New England College Baseball team puts their three-game winning streak on the line as they return to New England Collegiate Conference action with a doubleheader against Eastern Nazarene at Taunton High School, beginning at 2:00 pm.
New England College (9-8, 3-1 NECC) has won five of its last six games, including wins over No. 3 Eastern Connecticut and Mitchell. The reigning NECC Player of the Week, JD Normand, paces the Pilgrims with a .383 batting average and 15 RBI. Michael Ciccotelli and Connor Morin have been key producers in the middle of the NEC lineup, as Ciccotelli has 11 RBI and a team-leading six doubles, while Morin has driven in 13 runs. Freshman Brady Philibotte is tied for second with 16 hits, while his 13 walks lead the team. The Pilgrims' pitching staff has been solid all year. Their 4.27 ERA ranks second in the conference, while their 10.63 strikeouts per nine innings pace the league. The trio of Shayne Audet, Alex Perez, and Shaun Cormier all rank in the top 10 in the conference in ERA and strikeouts. Nationally, Audet ranks 13th in strikeouts per nine (14.66) while also ranking 21st in hits per nine (5.01).
Eastern Nazarene College (12-12, 2-2 NECC) is coming off a 7-1 win over No. 18 Tufts for their first win in program history over a nationally ranked opponent. Steven Pesce leads the way for the Lions' offense, as he is batting .391, with four home runs and 24 RBI. With a .361 batting average with three home runs and 21 RBI, Shane McNamara has also been a threat at the plate. Jon Tessier has been the top pitcher for ENC this year, as he is 5-0 with a 3.47 ERA. The Eastern Nazarene pitching staff maintains a 5.77 ERA with 175 strikeouts to 103 walks.
