The New England College Baseball team is looking to lock up the top seed in the upcoming New England Collegiate Conference Baseball Tournament, as they take on Lesley University for a doubleheader beginning at noon.
New England College (18-13, 7-3 NECC) is coming off a split against New Hampshire foe Plymouth State Thursday afternoon. The duo of Connor Morin and Michael Ciccotelli lead the way for the Pilgrims at the plate. Morin leads the team with four home runs and 27 RBI, while Ciccotelli paces the team with 32 hits, a .352 batting average, and ten doubles. Freshman Brady Philibotte has been a catalyst for the NEC lineup, as he leads the team in runs (34) and walks (18). The New England College pitching staff has been solid all year, as they maintain a 4.15 ERA, with 273 strikeouts in 229.2 innings. Their strikeout per nine (10.7 – 9th) and their hits per nine (8.07 – 18th) rank in the nation.
Lesley University (14-21-1, 1-8-1 NECC) is coming off a 1-0 11-inning win over Curry College on Monday. Andrew Gryniewicz paces the Lynx offensively with .447 batting average and eight doubles. Ronnie James has produced the power in the middle of the lineup, with three home runs and 26 RBI. This year, Justin Dennett, Adam Budorick, and James Brandon have added 20+ RBI. Dylan Langston has been the top pitcher with a 3.51 ERA and 70 strikeouts. As a staff, Lesley has maintained an 8.39 ERA in 256.1 innings.
