The New England College Baseball team heads up I-93 north to take on in-state foe Plymouth State University for a doubleheader beginning at 2:00 pm.
New England College (17-12, 7-3 NECC) is coming off a NECC sweep of Mitchell College. The trio of Connor Morin, JD Normand, and Michael Ciccotelli lead the way for the Pilgrims at the plate. Morin leads the team with four home runs and 27 RBI, while Normand paves the team with a .352 batting average. Ciccotelli paces the team with 30 hits and ten doubles. Freshman Brady Philibotte has been a catalyst for the NEC lineup, as he leads the team in runs (34) and walks (18). The New England College pitching staff has been solid all year, as they maintain a 3.99 ERA, with 262 strikeouts in 216.2 innings. Their strikeout per nine (10.9) and their hits per nine (7.96) rank in the nation.
Plymouth State Univ. (12-19, 4-7 LEC) is coming off a 13-12 walk-off win over UMass Boston on Tuesday afternoon. This year, Bryan McGrath has been the top bat in the Panther's lineup as he is hitting .278 with four home runs and 23 RBI. Danny Quinn supports the top batting average (.333) for PSU, while Luke Sokolski has driven in 24 runs. Trey Parker has been the top pitcher for Plymouth State this year, as they have a 7.54 ERA as a staff.
The Panthers lead the all-time series, 27-6.
