The New England College Baseball team wraps up their home slate as they host Mitchell College for a pivotal New England Collegiate Conference matchup. The top two teams in the conference square off for a doubleheader, beginning at 1:00 pm.
New England College (15-12, 5-3 NECC) is coming off a senior day split against Eastern Nazarene on Saturday. The trio of Connor Morin, Harutaro Takahashi, and Michael Ciccotelli lead the way for the Pilgrims at the plate. Morin leads the team with three home runs and 21 RBI, while Takahashi paves the team with a .370 batting average. Ciccotelli paces the team with 28 hits and ten doubles. Freshman Brady Philibotte has been a catalyst for the NEC lineup, as he leads the team in runs (30) and walks (17). The New England College pitching staff has been solid all year, as they maintain a 3.95 ERA, with 241 strikeouts in 200.2 innings. Their strikeout per nine (10.8 – 7th) and their hits per nine (7.85 – 12th) rank in the nation.
Mitchell College (23-7, 6-2 NECC) is currently riding a five-game winning streak, with their last loss against Lesley on April 9th. The Mariners are led offensively by Matt Falk, who is batting .313 with six homeruns and 25 RBI. The Yaworski brothers (Hunter and Bo) have been solid in the middle of the Mitchell lineup this year, as they have combined for a .405 batting average with three long balls, 20 doubles, and 60 RBI. Camren Varney and Chris Gibbs headline a pitching staff with a 2.84ERA with 245 strikeouts to just 65 walks.
The Mariners lead the all-time series, 7-4.
