THE BASICS

Records: Pilgrims (6-9, 4-0 NECC) | Lyons (10-5, 1-5 NEWMAC)

HOW IT HAPPENED

Sam Crary began the scoring for the Pilgrims, as he found the back of the cage at 13:52 of the first quarter. The Lyons answered with back-to-back scores from Alex Berg and Robert Sullivan, giving Wheaton a 2-1. Luca Ferreira tied the game up before the end of the opening quarter, to make it 2-2 after 15 minutes.

David Benjamin opened regained the advantage for NEC, as he scored the first score of the second. Following a Lyons goal to tie the back-and-forth game again, Fednor Drewry made it 4-3 NEC. Wheaton added one more score, as the teams would head into halftime tied at 4-4.

In the second half, Thomas Norton recorded his first of the game to go up 5-4. The Lyons responded and would tally four-straight scores to go up 8-5. Drewry would get the Pilgrims within two, but a Mike Goodwin goal with 3:47 left in regulation would give the Lyons an insurance goal to put the game out of reach.
