HENNIKER, N.H. – The New England College women's soccer team advanced to the New England Collegiate Conference championship finals on Thursday at Don Melander Field in Henniker, New Hampshire with an overtime victory over Mitchell College.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • New England College dominated time-of-possession in regulation while taking fifteen shots to Mitchell's two, but neither team could find the back of the net.
  • Just 2:34 into the first overtime period, sophomore midfielder Darian Taylor (Hudson, N.H.) was able to handle a corner from freshman midfielder Briana Lopes (East Providence, R.I.) to score the go-ahead goal.
  • The Pilgrims would blank the Mariners for the final 18 minutes of overtime to secure the victory and punch their ticket to the NECC championship game.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

  • NEC freshman goalkeeper Stephanie Bronowicki (Corona, Calif.) earned the shutout without needing to make a single save. The Pilgrims defense held the Mariners to zero shots on goal.
  • Mitchell sophomore goalkeeper Gemma Landry (Lewiston, Me) tallied twelve saves in the loss.
  • Taylor chose a fantastic time to score her first career goal while Lopes was credited with her second assist of the year.
  • New England College outshot Mitchell 21-3.
  • The Pilgrims lead the all-time series over Mitchell 9-0-3 after tying both matchups during the regular season.
