Women’s Soccer Draws Mitchell on Senior Day

HENNIKER, N.H. – The New England College women's soccer team battled to a 0-0 tie again visiting Mitchell College on Saturday evening at Don Melander Field in Henniker, New Hampshire in New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) action.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Pilgrims had the advantage for most of the game, outshooting the Mariners 21-6 on the day. But neither team was able to find the back of the net, and both had to settle for the draw.
  • NEC freshman midfielder Briana Lopes (East Providence, R.I.) led NEC with six shots while junior forward Elon Johnson (Freeport, Bahamas) had five for the Mariners.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

  • NEC freshman goalkeeper Stephanie Bronowicki (Corona, Calif.) continued her outstanding rookie campaign, tallying four saves in her third shutout of the season.
  • Mitchell sophomore goalkeeper Gemma Landry (Lewiston, Maine) came up with 11 saves for the Mariners.                

SENIOR DAY

  • Prior to the game, the New England College women's soccer program and athletics department recognized this year's senior class as part of senior day. Mackenzie Fels (Centereach, N.Y.), Emma Rice (Silver Creek, N.Y.), Lauren Hobson (Dover, N.H.), Felicia Glanberg (Stockholm, Sweden), Reese Hultgren (Charlton, Mass.) and Sofía Gómez Pedreira (Vitoria, Spain) were honored by coaches, teammates, family members and fans for all of their accomplishments at NEC both on and off the field. Although their time with the program may be coming to an end, they will forever be a part of the 'Grims family.

UP NEXT

  • NEC is back on the field on Tuesday when they travel to Eastern Nazarene College for a crucial NECC matchup, that beginning at 8:00 p.m.
  • Mitchell hosts Lesley University on Tuesday at 3:00 p.m.
