HOW IT HAPPENED
Most of the first half saw the teams take shots from well out of true scoring range. Julian Duarte, William Scala, and Wiskens Flavil each had shots in the opening 45, but Duarte was the lone 'Grim to have his shot go on target.
Clarkson broke through in the waning moments of the first half as Taro Hayashi's shot went into the left corner of the goal at the 43:16 mark of the first half to put the Knights up 1-0.
In the second half, the Knights had a pair of near-misses that were denied by Robbie Ferguson with tipped saves near the post and the upper corner. Clarkson was able to double their advantage in the 82nd minute, as Ben Root dashed forward just inside the penalty area and was able to beat one defender and the goalkeeper with a hard shot off his right foot into the corner of the net.
