NEW LONDON, Conn. – The New England College Baseball team falls one game short of the New England Collegiate Conference Championship series, as they fall to Mitchell College and Elms College in the conference tournament.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Game One – Mitchell College 8, New England College 3
New England College started off fast in the top of the first inning. Devin Parson reached first on an error by the Mitchell centerfielder, before scoring on a Connor Morin single to left. Morin made it 2-0 NEC, as he scored on a Tyler Gendron double to the left center gap. The Mariners were able to tie the game in the bottom of the first, as they plated two runs.
The Mariners would take the lead in the bottom of the fourth, as Dougie DelaCruz doubled down the left field line before Hunter Yaworski singled home DelaCruz with a single through the right side of the infield. Morin tied the game at 3-3, as he launched a solo homerun over the right field fence. In the bottom of the sixth, Mitchell regained the lead, as they strung together a walk and back-to-back singles to go ahead 4-3. The Mariners added four insurance runs, with two in the seventh, then two more in the eighth. New England College was unable to cut into the deficit, as they fell 8-3.
Game Two – Elms College 8, New England College 4
New England College was able to begin their second game of the day with a bang, as JD Normand hit a two-run homerun to left center field, to put NEC up 2-0 in the bottom of the second. Elms was able to cut into the deficit in the top of the fourth, as Cole Blades singled home Austin Roy on the play.
The Blazers were able to take the lead in the fifth, by plating two, before adding an additional insurance run in the sixth. Morin got the Pilgrims within one at 4-3 in the bottom of the sixth, as he singled home Garrett Langis.
Elms pulled away in the top of the seventh, as they plated four runs in the frame to go up 8-3. NEC was able to get one run back in the eighth but were unable to tie the game.

Following the doubleheader, the Mariners lead the all-time series against NEC 6-3, while the Pilgrims lead the all-time series over Elms 7-1.
