Box Score 2 STANDISH, Maine. – The New England College Baseball team gets swept by St. Joseph's of Maine following two close games, in non-conference action, Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Game One – St. Joseph's 6, New England College 5; 10 Innings
New England College was the first team to score, as Garrett Langis doubled home BJ Minarcin before scoring himself on a Michael Ciccotelli RBI single, in the top of the first inning. The Monks' were held scoreless until the bottom of the fourth inning, as Ben Gravel hit a leadoff homerun to make it 2-1. St. Joe's tied the game later in the frame, as Luke Stephens scored on a fielder's choice. The hosts would take a 5-2 lead in the bottom of the sixth, as they capitalized on a failed pickoff attempt and a passed ball.
NEC chipped away at the deficit in the top of the seventh, as Logan Gadbois scored on a wild pitch. Connor Morin scored in the top of the eighth on an RBI groundout from Harutaro Takahashi, making it 5-4 St. Joe's. In the ninth, the Pilgrims were able to tie the game with two outs, as Morin legged out an infield single, and Langis scored from second.
In the 10th inning, NEC was able to get a runner to second base with just one out in the inning but were unable to get him to score. The Monk's wasted no time, as Stephens hit a leadoff homerun to walk it off for St. Joseph's.
Shaun Cormier got the start for the Pilgrims, as the right-hander pitched 6.0 innings, allowing just three earned runs while striking out eight.
Game Two – St. Joseph's 10, New England College 7
St. Joe's was the first team to strike in game two, as the Monks were able to get on the board in the bottom of the first inning. SJC pushed their lead to 3-0 in the bottom of the third, and they ballooned their lead to 9-0 following a six-run fourth inning.
New England College was able to breakthrough in the top of the sixth, as Garrett Langis launched a three-run homerun to left field. The Pilgrims weren't done in the inning, as they added two more runs, as Devin Parson and Dylan Merrow drew bases-loaded walks, making it 9-5 St. Joe's.
After the Monks plated one run in the bottom of the sixth, NEC scored another run in the top of the eighth as Parson doubled home Ciccotelli, making it 10-6 SJC. New England College plated one run it the top of the ninth, as Luca Giallongo scored on a Morin RBI single.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
-This was the 10th and 11th times that these two teams have met, with the Monks maintaining control in the all-time series 10-1.
