The New England College Baseball team heads down to Northboro, Massachusetts to take on the Lynx of Lesley University at the New England Baseball Complex for a New England Collegiate Conference doubleheader Saturday afternoon at 2:30 p.m.
New England College (9-11, 7-1 NECC) is entering today's doubleheader winners of two straight, and eight of their last nine. Yesterday, the Pilgrims showed their offense, as they beat the Lynx 7-0 in game one, before taking game two 14-6. NEC's offense came through, as they had 22 hits on the day, with 12 going for extra bases. Michael Ciccotelli shined on the day, as the outfielder went 5-for-8 on the day, with three doubles and five RBI. Alex Perez and Wyatt Cameron are the projected starters for today's twin bill. Perez is 1-1 on the year, as in 16.2 innings, he has struck out 21 but has a 7.02 ERA. Cameron is 0-4 on the year, as he has pitched in 21.2 innings, with 14 strikeouts.
Lesley University (2-12, 2-12 NECC) comes into today, dropping their last seven. At the plate, the Lynx were led yesterday by Ian Spillane and Michael Fiorelli. The duo went 6-for-12, with two RBI and two runs scored. Giovanni Torres and Christian Vignola each went deep with solo homeruns, but Lesley was unable to get their bats going. Expect Steven DePalma and Michael Tres to throw today for the Lynx. DePalma is 1-2 on the year, as the senior has pitched 12.0 innings, with 17 strikeouts, but a 12.00 ERA. Tres has three starts this year and is also 1-2 for Lesley. He has just four strikeouts and has a 22.68 ERA.
The Pilgrims are looking to take both games today, and head into Wednesday tilt with Mitchell College on a four-game winning streak.
