The New England College Baseball team continues New England Collegiate Conference play as they play the Lynx of Lesley University in a doubleheader starting at noon, on Friday.
New England College (7-11, 5-1 NECC) is coming into today's doubleheader, winners of six of their last seven. Garrett Langis leads the Pilgrims' offense, as the four-time NECC Rookie of the Week leads NEC in batting average (.351), homeruns (4), RBI (16), and stolen bases (9). Connor Morin is also a name to watch, as the senior has an RBI in six of the last seven games he has played in. Shaun Cormier has cemented himself as the ace of NEC's staff, as he is 2-0 on the year, with 26.0 innings pitched with 27 strikeouts to just three walks. Cormier came on in game one against the Mariners to pick up his first save of the year, and he maintains a team-best 2.77 ERA.
The Lynx are trying to stop a five-game skid, as they are 2-10 on the year, with all of their games coming against NECC opponents. Lesley is led offensively by Giovanni Torres, the Bates transfer is batting .395 on the year, with eight RBI, but has only struck out once in 38 at-bats.
The Pilgrims won two of the three meetings, the last time that they played, including a 5-2 win in the opening game of the 2019 NECC Baseball Tournament.
