Box Score 2 NEW LONDON, Conn. - The New England College Baseball team takes game one against Mitchell College 5-3, before falling in the nightcap 16-3, in New England Collegiate Conference action, Wednesday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Game One – New England College 5, Mitchell College 3
Mitchell was the first team to strike, as they plated two runs on sacrifice flies to the outfield. New England College was able to tie the game up at 2-2 in the top of the third, as Pat Hagerty tripled home Logan Gadbois before he scored on a wild pitch.
The Mariners would regain the lead in the bottom of the fifth, as Jakari Pellegrini scored on a Dougie DelaCruz single to left field. In the top of the seventh, New England College tied the game, as Gadbois scored on a wild pitch. Michael Ciccotelli gave NEC the lead for the first time, as he singled through the right side of the infield, plating two runs on the play.
Tim Krol picked up his first collegiate win, after going 6.0 innings, striking out seven, and walking one. Shaun Cormier closed it out for New England College, as he pitched the seventh, allowing just one hit and striking out one.
Game Two –New England College 6, Elms College 5 – 9 Innings
In game two, NEC was the first team to score, as Luca Giallongo scored on a Garrett Langis sacrifice fly. Mitchell tied the game at 1-1in the bottom of the first, as Anthony Stigler scored on a sacrifice fly to center field.
The Mariners broke the game open in the bottom of the third, as they plated seven runs in the frame which was capped off by a Dougie DelaCruz grand slam. Mitchell added to their lead, as they plated three runs in both the fourth and the fifth.
The Pilgrims were able to score twice in the top of the sixth, as Austin Houghtaling scored on a Connor Richardson single, before scoring himself on a wild pitch. Mitchell answered in their half of the inning, as they struck twice to go up 16-3.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- The Pilgrims' six-game winning streak was the longest since they rattled off nine straight from April 27-May 19, 2019.
- The two teams have now split the all-time series, 3-3
