HOW IT HAPPENED
Keene State got the scoring started in the bottom of the first inning, as Mark Barrett led off the inning with a bunt single, before stealing both second and third to get into scoring position. Josh DeFrancisco drove in Barrett with a sacrifice fly to centerfield, making it 1-0 Keene State. In the second inning, the Owls pushed the lead to 4-0 after the frame was capped off by a DeFrancisco two-RBI double to left field.
NEC finally broke through in the top of the fourth, as Tyler Gendron laced a single up the middle, plating Michael Ciccotelli from second base. After not scoring in the bottom half of the fourth, Keene State returned to the scoring column, as they struck two more times to go up 6-1.
In the bottom of the seventh, the Owls scored twice to go up 8-1. New England College was able to get a runner in scoring position with one out but were unable to get any runs across.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
-This was the 20th all-time meeting between NEC and KSC, with the Owls still leading the series 16-4.
- Connor Morin was the lone Pilgrim with two hits on the afternoon, as the senior went 2-3.
- Alex Perez, Brendan Hickey, and Ryan Hughes combined to pitch 3.0 inning, allowing no earned runs, while striking out four.

New England College will have their home opener on Friday, April 2nd against the Mariners of Mitchell College. The first pitch of the doubleheader is slated for noon.
