Box Score NORTHBOROUGH, Mass. - Behind eight strong innings from Shaun Cormier, the New England College Baseball team picks up their first win of the year following a 7-4 win over Anna Maria College, Sunday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Anna Maria was the first team to strike, as Nick Genatossio had a ground-rule double in the bottom of the first inning to go up 1-0. New England College answered in the top of the third, as Connor Morin has a two-RBI single up the middle before Harutaro Takahashi doubled home another run.
In the bottom half of the third, Genatossio drove in a pair with a single through the right side of the infield. The Pilgrims answered right back with two runs in the fourth, as Logan Gadbois scored on an error, before Rob Pagliuca crossed the plate on a ground out, to go up 6-3. Anna Maria got within two in the bottom of the sixth, as Greg Gehring recorded an RBI single with a base knock down the left-field line.
In the top of the eighth inning, Garret Langis was able to draw a walk, before stealing both second and third base, setting up Pagliuca with an RBI single, giving NEC an insurance run. Matt White came into pitch for Cormier for the ninth inning, as White was able to get two strikeouts and then getting the last batter to ground out to short to seal the victory for the 'Grims.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
-This was the 34th all-time meeting between NEC and Anna Maria, with the AMCats still leading the series 18-16.
- Garrett Langis recorded three stolen bases on the day, including two in the top of the eighth inning.
- Cormier picked up the win after he went 8.0 strong innings, with six strikeouts and surrendering one walk.
