Box Score HENNIKER, NH. The New England College women's basketball team fell to Babson College in their home opener 71-43, Sunday afternoon at Bridges Gymnasium.
Following the contest, the Pilgrims fall to 0-2 overall, while the Beavers move to 6-0.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Pilgrims started off strong defensively, keeping the Beavers scoreless for the first few minutes of the game. Babson only scored their first points from the charity stripe. New England was able to hold their own against the Beavers for the first half of the match, with Mariah Jones having three big steals for the Pilgrims. The teams would go into the second half, 33-20, Babson with the lead.
Babson would go on to have an 8-0 run in the third quarter to push away from New England College, and essentially keep that lead for the rest of the game. The Pilgrims, best shooting percentage came in the final quarter, as the 'Grims shot 54.5 percentage from the field.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
-Erika Pratt led the Pilgrims with ten rebounds and added eight points
-Asia Jones paced the NEC offense with fifteen points.
-Mariah Thomas chipped in a well-rounded game, as the junior had eight points, four rebounds, and a game-high three steals.
