Baseball Falls to Catholic, 8-3 to Wrapping Up Spring Break

Box Score MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - The Pilgrims drop the final game of their Spring Break trip to the Catholic University of America 8-3 at the Ripken Experience.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Cardinals would be the first to get on the board as they plated four runs in the first inning. NEC would cut their lead in half in the top of the second though as Mike Ciccotelli would score on a throwing error by the shortstop and Jose Guillermo would hit a double down the line scoring another run. Catholic would add one to their lead in the bottom of the third to make it 5-2.

The Pilgrims would strike again in the top of the sixth when Shane McNamara hit his team-leading fourth home run making it 5-3. The Cardinal would answer right back in the bottom half of the sixth when Tighe Watson hit a two-run home run over the right-field fence to increase their lead to 7-3. The Cardinals would add one more to their lead in the bottom of the eighth and go on to win 8-3.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

-This was the first meeting between Catholic University and NEC.
-Shane McNamara now has three home runs over his last three games.
-NEC has hit 12 home runs over their last 4 games.
